Healthy Garden Products Koh Samui- Review

Hi Everyone!
Welcome back to my blog and to those who are new here, welcome to my web-family!

Today, I'm gonna introduce you to one of my favorite brands " Healthy Garden Products". This Koh Samui based brand offers wide range of natural skin, body and hair care products!

About Healthy Garden Products

This brand is owned by an Italian couple Giulia Violoni & Roberto Giacomelli; who are living in Koh Samui with their daughters (Layla and Syria). Mr Roberto has been living in Thailand for almost 20 years now and turned vegan 15 years ago. As a family they believe in the healing power of nature and are always looking for natural ways to stay healthy. They wanted to start a business where their daughters can grow up in contact with nature and that's why they came up with this brand to share their love, passion and knowledge about herbs, roots, leaves and trees with other like minded people.

They launched this brand 3 years ago out of their passion and love for nature and healthy lifestyle right after their first daughter was born. In the beginning, they were only selling hemp products and last year after Giulia did an online Ayurvedic Course from India; they started expanding their product line. Most of the ingredients used in their products are from their own garden hence the name of the brand " Healthy Garden Products".  They have so many trees and herbs in their garden including; Neem, Moringa, Aloe Vera, Lemongrass and so many others plants with which they make handmade soaps and extracts. However, Shikakai and Bhringraj powders used in their products are directly sourced from a shop in India.  They offer wide range of natural products such as Amla oil extract, Moringa oil extract, Neem extract, Bringraj Extract, Licorice root extract, Longjack extract, Shikakai extract, Brahmi Extract, Hemp oil and some natural homemade soaps.

My Experience with Healthy Garden Products:

When it comes to living a healthy and natural lifestyle, what you put on your body is just as significant as what you put in your body. ⁣Being a minimalist I’m very selective of what I eat and what I put on my body. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and since it’s porous, it absorbs whatever we put on it. So, that’s why I’m very careful about what I put on my body. It’s super important to pay attention to the ingredients in our skin and hair care products. Most of the skincare products contains harmful chemicals such as harsh chemicals, toxins, colors and fragrances etc. These ingredients can make their way into our body, our blood and lymphatic system. And majority of the mainstream body +hair care products contains carcinogenic, chemicals, allergens and irritants. ⁣ ⁣ That’s why I am more into organic and natural products! ⁣ ⁣I’m so glad that I have found few brands like @healthygardenproducts who are offering wide range of natural body and hair care products! ⁣ ⁣

I've got my hands on few of Healthy Garden Products such as; Amla oil extract, Moringa oil extract, Neem extract, Bringraj Extract, Licorice root extract, Longjack extract, Shikakai extract, Brahmi Extract, and Hemp & Coconut oil. All of these herbs are amazing and have various health benefits.

So, Let's talk about their benefits and how I'm using them!

Bhringraj and Shikakai Oil extract:

In Ayurveda both of these herbs are considered really good for hair growth and hair care. They both protect and nourish your hair and scalp. They treat damaged hair and gives shine and softens hair texture. I put few drops of both of these extracts in my coconut oil and massage my hair and scalp with that mixture.

I have used hem together only few times and I already can see the difference they are making. I'm sure if I will use them every weekend the results will be more visible. So, if you are someone who's dealing with damaged hair or dandruff, consider using these herbs. Shikakai is an excellent cleanser and it helps restore natural oil in hair and provides different vitamins and antioxidants that make hair smooth and easy to handle.

Amla Extract

Amla aka Indian goosberry is packed with so many vitamins and minerals and iron etc. There are multiple benefits of this herb such as it improves immunity(coz it's rich in Vitamin C), lowers or control cholesterol levels, lowers sugar levels, improve brain health and function, reduces the effect of premature aging, improves vision, reduces dry skin and dehydration.  It has anti bacterial properties and helps us to fight with infections. It also purifies our blood and helps in the growth of red blood cells. It is best for our digestive system and reduces the gastric problems. So, we can take few drops of this extract with some water empty stomach to avoid acidity and to cure constipation. It also helps in sound sleep and de-stress. It can help in weight loss as well by improving metabolism rate. It is good for diabetic patients and cures pimples.

Basically, it's a super food that can contribute to a glowing skin and good health. So, you can use it topically as well as incorporate it your diet. In India, we have/use it multiple ways. I'm so glad that I found this extract here in Thailand. It has become super easy for me to incormprate this magical herb into my daily routine.

Moringa Oil Extract

I've used this extract only couple of times as I have been using another moringa oil as well and I love both of them equally. All parts of the moringa tree, including its seeds, roots, bark, flowers, and leaves, can be used for nutritional, industrial and medicinal purposes.  And that's why it’s known as “the miracle tree.” (it’s also called the drumstick tree coz of shape of its seed pods).  Moringa seeds oil contains many nutritional compounds, including monounsaturated fats, protein, sterols, and tocopherols. Moringa oil is produced through a variety of industrial processes, including solvent extraction and cold-pressing. Moringa oil’s oleic acid makes it beneficial when used topically as a cleansing agent, and as a moisturizer for skin and hair. It contains several bioactive compounds which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. So, it's beneficial for acne breakouts. It super nourishing for hair and skin both. I have shared my experience of using Moringa oil in my previous post HERE. TBH, this oil is my new favorite and I'm recommending it to all of my friends and family who are into natural skincare products.

Licorice Root Extract

Licorice root is known for its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects.
Some researches suggest that it can be helpful to ease upper respiratory infections, treat ulcers, and aid digestion. Nowadays, it's promoted as dietary supplement for conditions such as digestive problems, menopausal symptoms, cough, bacterial and viral infections etc. It's also good for skin as it contains Glabridin which can inhibit the production of melanin. It also has skin-soothing, antioxidant, and other beneficial properties for skin.  You can read more about it HERE

I'm not using/having it regularly. However, I sometimes add few drops of it in tea or hot water to just sooth my throat. Now, I'm gonna incorporate it in my skincare as well.

NOTE: The dosage of licorice depends on the condition that needs treating. However, people should never consume excessive amounts of licorice in food or supplement form.  People who have high blood pressure or low potassium levels should avoid licorice candy and supplements altogether.

Hemp & Coconut Oil

This is another favourite skincare product that I have been using lately. It has definitely made my skin better in just few days.

Hemp is a cannabis plant like the drug marijuana but it contains little to no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC the chemical that gets people high) Instead of THC, hemp contains cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical that has been used to treat everything from epilepsy to anxiety. It's considered really good for skin issues like; acne, inflamation, and psoriasis etc. It has anti-aging and anti bacterial properties, promotes skin regeneration and relive stress. It also contains large amounts of omega-6 and omega-3 fats, which are two types of unsaturated good fats and all nine essential amino acids(the materials our body uses to make protein). You can read more about it HERE

I have been using this in the morning right after my bath. I can already feel the difference it’s making on my skin and I absolutely recommend it to someone who’s into natural skincare.

Neem Extract:

Neem is best known for its anti-aging properties. Due to its antioxidant properties it protects the skin from harmful UV rays, pollution and other environmental factors. The vitamins and fatty acids in neem improve and maintain the elasticity of the skin, reduce wrinkles and fine lines. This make you and your skin look rejuvenated and youthful. Its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties keep the harmful bacteria and fungi at bay. Thus, it protects the skin and keeps the skin related diseases away. Neem leaves are used for leprosy, eye disorders, bloody nose, intestinal worms, stomach upset, loss of appetite, skin ulcers, diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular disease), fever, diabetes, gum disease (gingivitis), and liver problems. Neem contains chemicals that might help reduce blood sugar levels, heal ulcers in the digestive tract, prevent pregnancy, kill bacteria, and prevent plaque. Neem leaves contain over 130 different types of biological compounds, such as nimbin, nimandial which help heal the body and promote healthy living.

So, basically it's an one tree pharmacy! I have been using this extract in multiple ways(I use it topically as well as orally) for multiple purposes and loving the result it's been giving me so far.

Brahmi Extract

Brahmi has a long history of use in Ayurveda for balancing all three doshas. Traditionally, brahmi has been used as a nervine and to promote intellect and overall life energy. It promotes a sense of calm and was historically utilized as a tonic herb. In Ayurveda, brahmi is considered energetically cooling and is typically steeped as an infusion, macerated as an extract, or infused in oil for topical use.

Benefit of Brahmi Extract:

  • Antibacterial ⁣
  • Brain Tonic
  • Detoxify Liver
  • Memory Booster
  • ⁣Benefits Alzheimer⁣
  • Contains Antioxidants
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Reduces Stress and anxiety
  • Reduces High Blood Pressure

Brahmi extract can be taken alone or combined with other herbs (especially with nootropics such as rosemary extract or gotu kola extract or a warming, digestive herb such as ginger extract etc). You can also few drops of it in your hot tea or cold infusions. I often drink Brahmi tea right before my meditation to calm my mind. It really helps in calming the nervous system.
