Sparkling Through Bangkok – Local Indian Designers

Hi guys!

A person posing for a pictureDescription automatically generated with medium confidenceMy name is Tejale Bellani and I am a local blogger here in Bangkok under the Instagram handle @tejalebellz.

I started my Instagram blog around 2 years ago but I was not really sure about the direction I wanted to go in. I had always thought about the approach of becoming a lifestyle blogger and recording everything and anything around me. However, earlier this year, I realised that I wanted to use my Instagram platform to support small and local businesses in the country. My end goal is to become a one stop shop for all local businesses. Ideally, I’d like consumers can easily navigate through my page to find things they may need and know exactly where and when to access them from.

As a little girl in, I still remember watching the cheesy Bollywood romantic movies (which I still kinda love, haha) and being completely in awe of the gorgeous jewellery and outfits that the actors and actresses wore during festivities.

Living in Bangkok my whole life meant we were always attending weddings functions and parties within our beautiful community. Whenever I would travel to India with my family as a child, I would always admire the different types of Indian outfits and the specific details on each one of them. Each part of India has its own unique style and fashion based on their climate, geographical location, and cultural values. Indian outfits can be extremely versatile in many ways – nowadays we are automatically drawn towards the different embodies and work we see on different outfits. Some examples are thread work, mirror work, beaded work, funky prints, hanging tassels and so much more!

As I said before, living in Bangkok means you always need to be ready with at least one Indian outfit, if not two. It is always wedding season in our city, so one must always have something they can easily pull out from their wardrobe. One of the many perks of living here is the wide variety and access to our local Indian designers in the city. I am so excited to share some of my local favourite designers that I have worn and worked with. You never know, they may come in extremely handy for you when thinking about what you want to wear to your next wedding function and prepare yourself to stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Design by Simmi

I have recently gotten to know about Design by Simmi when I had seen a friend of mine wearing her outfit at one of the events. My eyes were instantly drawn towards the elegance of the outfit and the modern feel of the outfit. I was lucky enough to wear one of Simmi’s design for Diwali and I chose to wear a beautiful fuchsia pink lengha with a yellow blouse and a dupatta attached to the blouse. What I loved about this was that it gave a very traditional Indian look, but also successfully gave it a modern and fun twist – which is exactly the sort of outfits I love to wear! Let me just say, this outfit gave me complete fairy tale vibes!A picture containing wall, indoorDescription automatically generated

Anjali Thakral

A person in a dressDescription automatically generated with low confidence

Anjali Thakral is a Bangkok based designer who specialises in modern Indian wear as well as indo-western. Her design style is fun and caters to those women who aren’t afraid to experiment, which is also a reflection of her own fashion sense. I would describe her design style to be fun, funky with a touch of feminine softness, leaving every woman feeling empowered and the best version of themselves in her clothes. I have been able to experiment with Anjali’s styles and have been able to wear them myself. I am sharing some of my favourite looks I have worn of hers; first one being a tiered ruffle sharara with a mustard yellow off shoulder blouse – an ideal look for an evening cocktail wedding party or any party in which you may be looking for a fusion and comfortable look with no compromise to fashion. The second one being a light blue pair of sharara pants, with a silver blouse and stunning yet traditional ruffled red dupatta to put it all together – a perfect outfit for an afternoon mehndi function or a close and intimate wedding ceremony.

Kiyaara

A person in a dressDescription automatically generated with low confidenceKiyaara is also another brand of which I have very recently come across when we had collaborated. Her pieces are very elegant, and I would say they surely cater to the traditional aspects of Indian clothing which I adore! Despite her outfits being on the traditional side, I still found them very playful and easy, unlike many other traditional outfits which don’t leave any space for comfort or to change them around. I wore a beige lengha with a simple beige crop top and a pink cape jacket to put it all together. What I loved about the outfit is that there was no need of a dupatta and having the cape there gave a very flowy and feminine feel to the overall outfit.

Pavni

A person in a yellow dressDescription automatically generatedPavni is surely one of the first ever Indian designers I have known about here in Bangkok. She is known for effortlessly fusing traditional Indian elements with modern influences – something I truly LOVE about her and her brand. Her clients are addicted to her perfect fit, and her ability to create pieces that look fresh even ten years later - no easy feat in this age of fast fashion. I have worn Pavni for multiple events; my favorite outfit which was made for me was a printed pair of pants with a crop top– the colors were so funky and bold and I must say it was something I was not sure about but I know I can always trust Pavni as she will always make sure I feel my best in anything she designs for me. Another of many outfits I have worn from Pavni is a simple bright yellow gown with a sexy cut on the left-hand side and an embroidery patch on the left shoulder. This gown was so simple but so classy, it received so many compliments, and once again I trusted Pavni and she made me look phenomenal in something I would have never ever picked out by myself!

Sumedha Seghal Design

A person in a red dressDescription automatically generated with medium confidenceSumedha Seghal Design reflects who she is a young, confident, daring and sassy woman. She takes inspiration from both the west and the east to create unique designs that she hopes to make her clients feel confident and daring when they're wearing her outfits. What I admire about her brand is her elegance in every outfit, but also the chance she takes to experiment with different styles and colors that I have never seen before. Just like this, I wore a printed crop top lengha set – the lengha had leaves printed on it (something I would not usually opt for by myself); and the crop top was a stunning halter sequence crop top in red with frills at the bottom. Again, something very new and fun for me to experiment with – an outfit that received a lot of compliments!

My Favorite Restaurants in Bangkok by Keerat Sethi

Hi Everyone!

I’m Keerat Sethi known for my food blogging account Master Eater on Instagram!

I was known as "the girl whose phone ate the food before her" and I didn’t mind being called that. I always enjoyed the process of food photography and capturing the beauty of food everywhere I go.

Cooking is more than just a hobby to me. My friends and I used to meet up just to cook and spend time. We would also invite a lot of people over and just cook for them. When my friends got sick I would make kichadi for them as a gesture to express my love and care.

I started Master Eater sharing recipes and my experience! I’m still doing that but I’m also expanding and reviewing food because I enjoy the process of eating, shooting, editing, and food photography as a whole.

From this, you’ve probably guessed that I LOVE food right? Definitely. I love everything about it from the looks to the smell and taste. Nothing beats home food for me especially the sataw by my mom, pumpkin halwa by my Dadi (paternal grandmother), missi roti by my Nani (maternal grandmother), and pork ribs by my dad but at the same time, I love exploring.

I grew up in a multicultural environment and didn’t specifically grow up with just one cuisine. If I had Thai food for lunch then my dinner would usually be Indian or Italian! We went for family dinners every weekend and we would just try different cuisines. Food was not just about eating anymore it was about connecting. We would talk about the ingredients used, culture from where the food originated or we would just sit, eat and smile! It brought happiness to our family.

You might expect me to have a unique taste in food but my favorite restaurant is a place that not only tastes food, instead it’s a place that is comfortable enough for me to visit once a while, full of memories, and never get bored of it.

I’m not a picky eater but I’m also not the type of person that likes to revisit restaurants unless it captured all aspects of what I mentioned!

Sizzler Restaurant For Seafood, Steaks and Salad Bar Buffet

My all-time comfort favorite restaurant might come as a
surprise for many people - it’s “sizzler”! It has everything from steaks to seafood and a salad bar buffet. Fish is served in over 10 different ways, chicken, pork, and steak in over 30 ways and everything you order comes with a side of either mash potatoes, fries, or rice + free salad bar buffet that you can return to as many times as you like. My favorite order is the classic fish and chips along with the combination of mushroom soup, cheesy butter bread and spaghetti.

Basically, this is the restaurant I turn to when I don’t know what to eat and where to go.

Wine I love You Restaurant for Italian Food

When it comes to wanting to dress nice, go to a classy restaurant, and have good Italian food -

“wine I love you” is the place for me. The value of money is great, the food quality is amazing and the taste of the food is excellent. I highly recommend the pizzas and deserts - chocolate lava cake is my go-to!

Din Tai Fung Restaurant for Chinese Food

I have a favorite spot for all the cuisines I like and for Chinese food, it’s “Din Tai Fung”! I don’t only have it in Thailand but this is a restaurant I visit when I travel to other countries as well. If you haven’t tried xiao long bao you’re definitely missing out on one of the best dishes out there. I love the shrimp-fried rice there as well. If you’re a vegetarian don’t worry, I got you covered. Try the noodles in peanut sauce, veggie gyoza, and veggie baos!

Sushi Hiro Restaurant for Japanese Food

"Sushi Hiro" is my other favorite restaurant for Japanese food. I’ve been doing to this place since I was a kid and I love it from day 1 till now! The sushi and sashimi served there is premium quality and every bite is finger-licking good. The foie gras will just melt in your mouth and you wouldn’t be able to stop having the salmon and tuna sashimi. I also highly recommend the cold soba and avocado salad. The food is so worth it and you have to try this place at least once!

My Favourite Thai Food Restaurants in Bangkok

Living in Thailand, street food definitely tastes the best when it comes to Thai food but I have 2 go-to Thai restaurants that I always recommend my friends who are visiting Thailand to try. It’s “Ton khruang” and “kab khao kab pla”. In Ton khruang I would order the yum thua plu, tom yam, thod mun, and kraphao. Whereas in Kab khao kab pla I would usually order somtam and phad Thai. The food is clean, taste authentic, and delicious. It’s suitable for vegetarians as well.

My Favourite Indian Food Restaurant in Bangkok

Being a Thai-Indian how can I miss out on Indian food right? I haven’t explored a lot of Indian differences because I love my homemade Indian food the most and I don’t think anything could beat that but from what I’ve tried, I like the food at “charcoal”.

If you're interested to know more about what I eat, the new restaurants that I try, detailed reviews of the dishes in those restaurants, and try out delicious recipes then make sure to check out my Instagram and TikTok. I am also open for reviews, and collaborations with small businesses as well as well-known restaurants so feel free to message me for more information.

Healthy Garden Products Koh Samui- Review

Hi Everyone!
Welcome back to my blog and to those who are new here, welcome to my web-family!

Today, I'm gonna introduce you to one of my favorite brands " Healthy Garden Products". This Koh Samui based brand offers wide range of natural skin, body and hair care products!

About Healthy Garden Products

This brand is owned by an Italian couple Giulia Violoni & Roberto Giacomelli; who are living in Koh Samui with their daughters (Layla and Syria). Mr Roberto has been living in Thailand for almost 20 years now and turned vegan 15 years ago. As a family they believe in the healing power of nature and are always looking for natural ways to stay healthy. They wanted to start a business where their daughters can grow up in contact with nature and that's why they came up with this brand to share their love, passion and knowledge about herbs, roots, leaves and trees with other like minded people.

They launched this brand 3 years ago out of their passion and love for nature and healthy lifestyle right after their first daughter was born. In the beginning, they were only selling hemp products and last year after Giulia did an online Ayurvedic Course from India; they started expanding their product line. Most of the ingredients used in their products are from their own garden hence the name of the brand " Healthy Garden Products".  They have so many trees and herbs in their garden including; Neem, Moringa, Aloe Vera, Lemongrass and so many others plants with which they make handmade soaps and extracts. However, Shikakai and Bhringraj powders used in their products are directly sourced from a shop in India.  They offer wide range of natural products such as Amla oil extract, Moringa oil extract, Neem extract, Bringraj Extract, Licorice root extract, Longjack extract, Shikakai extract, Brahmi Extract, Hemp oil and some natural homemade soaps.

My Experience with Healthy Garden Products:

When it comes to living a healthy and natural lifestyle, what you put on your body is just as significant as what you put in your body. ⁣Being a minimalist I’m very selective of what I eat and what I put on my body. Our skin is the largest organ of our body and since it’s porous, it absorbs whatever we put on it. So, that’s why I’m very careful about what I put on my body. It’s super important to pay attention to the ingredients in our skin and hair care products. Most of the skincare products contains harmful chemicals such as harsh chemicals, toxins, colors and fragrances etc. These ingredients can make their way into our body, our blood and lymphatic system. And majority of the mainstream body +hair care products contains carcinogenic, chemicals, allergens and irritants. ⁣ ⁣ That’s why I am more into organic and natural products! ⁣ ⁣I’m so glad that I have found few brands like @healthygardenproducts who are offering wide range of natural body and hair care products! ⁣ ⁣

I've got my hands on few of Healthy Garden Products such as; Amla oil extract, Moringa oil extract, Neem extract, Bringraj Extract, Licorice root extract, Longjack extract, Shikakai extract, Brahmi Extract, and Hemp & Coconut oil. All of these herbs are amazing and have various health benefits.

So, Let's talk about their benefits and how I'm using them!

Bhringraj and Shikakai Oil extract:

In Ayurveda both of these herbs are considered really good for hair growth and hair care. They both protect and nourish your hair and scalp. They treat damaged hair and gives shine and softens hair texture. I put few drops of both of these extracts in my coconut oil and massage my hair and scalp with that mixture.

I have used hem together only few times and I already can see the difference they are making. I'm sure if I will use them every weekend the results will be more visible. So, if you are someone who's dealing with damaged hair or dandruff, consider using these herbs. Shikakai is an excellent cleanser and it helps restore natural oil in hair and provides different vitamins and antioxidants that make hair smooth and easy to handle.

Amla Extract

Amla aka Indian goosberry is packed with so many vitamins and minerals and iron etc. There are multiple benefits of this herb such as it improves immunity(coz it's rich in Vitamin C), lowers or control cholesterol levels, lowers sugar levels, improve brain health and function, reduces the effect of premature aging, improves vision, reduces dry skin and dehydration.  It has anti bacterial properties and helps us to fight with infections. It also purifies our blood and helps in the growth of red blood cells. It is best for our digestive system and reduces the gastric problems. So, we can take few drops of this extract with some water empty stomach to avoid acidity and to cure constipation. It also helps in sound sleep and de-stress. It can help in weight loss as well by improving metabolism rate. It is good for diabetic patients and cures pimples.

Basically, it's a super food that can contribute to a glowing skin and good health. So, you can use it topically as well as incorporate it your diet. In India, we have/use it multiple ways. I'm so glad that I found this extract here in Thailand. It has become super easy for me to incormprate this magical herb into my daily routine.

Moringa Oil Extract

I've used this extract only couple of times as I have been using another moringa oil as well and I love both of them equally. All parts of the moringa tree, including its seeds, roots, bark, flowers, and leaves, can be used for nutritional, industrial and medicinal purposes.  And that's why it’s known as “the miracle tree.” (it’s also called the drumstick tree coz of shape of its seed pods).  Moringa seeds oil contains many nutritional compounds, including monounsaturated fats, protein, sterols, and tocopherols. Moringa oil is produced through a variety of industrial processes, including solvent extraction and cold-pressing. Moringa oil’s oleic acid makes it beneficial when used topically as a cleansing agent, and as a moisturizer for skin and hair. It contains several bioactive compounds which have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. So, it's beneficial for acne breakouts. It super nourishing for hair and skin both. I have shared my experience of using Moringa oil in my previous post HERE. TBH, this oil is my new favorite and I'm recommending it to all of my friends and family who are into natural skincare products.

Licorice Root Extract

Licorice root is known for its potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial effects.
Some researches suggest that it can be helpful to ease upper respiratory infections, treat ulcers, and aid digestion. Nowadays, it's promoted as dietary supplement for conditions such as digestive problems, menopausal symptoms, cough, bacterial and viral infections etc. It's also good for skin as it contains Glabridin which can inhibit the production of melanin. It also has skin-soothing, antioxidant, and other beneficial properties for skin.  You can read more about it HERE

I'm not using/having it regularly. However, I sometimes add few drops of it in tea or hot water to just sooth my throat. Now, I'm gonna incorporate it in my skincare as well.

NOTE: The dosage of licorice depends on the condition that needs treating. However, people should never consume excessive amounts of licorice in food or supplement form.  People who have high blood pressure or low potassium levels should avoid licorice candy and supplements altogether.

Hemp & Coconut Oil

This is another favourite skincare product that I have been using lately. It has definitely made my skin better in just few days.

Hemp is a cannabis plant like the drug marijuana but it contains little to no tetrahydrocannabinol (THC the chemical that gets people high) Instead of THC, hemp contains cannabidiol (CBD), a chemical that has been used to treat everything from epilepsy to anxiety. It's considered really good for skin issues like; acne, inflamation, and psoriasis etc. It has anti-aging and anti bacterial properties, promotes skin regeneration and relive stress. It also contains large amounts of omega-6 and omega-3 fats, which are two types of unsaturated good fats and all nine essential amino acids(the materials our body uses to make protein). You can read more about it HERE

I have been using this in the morning right after my bath. I can already feel the difference it’s making on my skin and I absolutely recommend it to someone who’s into natural skincare.

Neem Extract:

Neem is best known for its anti-aging properties. Due to its antioxidant properties it protects the skin from harmful UV rays, pollution and other environmental factors. The vitamins and fatty acids in neem improve and maintain the elasticity of the skin, reduce wrinkles and fine lines. This make you and your skin look rejuvenated and youthful. Its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties keep the harmful bacteria and fungi at bay. Thus, it protects the skin and keeps the skin related diseases away. Neem leaves are used for leprosy, eye disorders, bloody nose, intestinal worms, stomach upset, loss of appetite, skin ulcers, diseases of the heart and blood vessels (cardiovascular disease), fever, diabetes, gum disease (gingivitis), and liver problems. Neem contains chemicals that might help reduce blood sugar levels, heal ulcers in the digestive tract, prevent pregnancy, kill bacteria, and prevent plaque. Neem leaves contain over 130 different types of biological compounds, such as nimbin, nimandial which help heal the body and promote healthy living.

So, basically it's an one tree pharmacy! I have been using this extract in multiple ways(I use it topically as well as orally) for multiple purposes and loving the result it's been giving me so far.

Brahmi Extract

Brahmi has a long history of use in Ayurveda for balancing all three doshas. Traditionally, brahmi has been used as a nervine and to promote intellect and overall life energy. It promotes a sense of calm and was historically utilized as a tonic herb. In Ayurveda, brahmi is considered energetically cooling and is typically steeped as an infusion, macerated as an extract, or infused in oil for topical use.

Benefit of Brahmi Extract:

  • Antibacterial ⁣
  • Brain Tonic
  • Detoxify Liver
  • Memory Booster
  • ⁣Benefits Alzheimer⁣
  • Contains Antioxidants
  • Reduces inflammation
  • Reduces Stress and anxiety
  • Reduces High Blood Pressure

Brahmi extract can be taken alone or combined with other herbs (especially with nootropics such as rosemary extract or gotu kola extract or a warming, digestive herb such as ginger extract etc). You can also few drops of it in your hot tea or cold infusions. I often drink Brahmi tea right before my meditation to calm my mind. It really helps in calming the nervous system.

Conclusion:

I'm in love with the Healthy Garden Products!

I love the packaging and minimalistic designs of their products. Most of their products have all the information written on them; be it the ingredients, their use or benefits or precautions, they have mentioned it all.

So, if you are living in Thailand and want to switch to natural products then head over their Instagram Page @healthygardenproducts and checkout their natural products!

Moringa Oil Review from Moringa Project Thailand

Moringa Project Thailand
Hi Everyone!

How are you doing?

It's been a while since I wrote anything here on my blog and with this post I'm making a promise to myself to write one blog post every week. And today, I am gonna share one of my favorite products with you all. Yes, this is going to be a review post!

Moringa Project Thailand

Moringa Facial Oil

Recently, I got introduced to this new brand called "Moringa Project Thailand" . This brand is considered a ‘farm to face’ clean skincare brand and it's owned by Piacher Christensen, Marika Nanni and Carlo Nanni(the sibling trio). They have their own Moringa farm in Hua Hin where they grow the Moringa trees.

Moringa tree is also known as the ‘miracle tree’ because of its medicinal and nutritional benefits. I got a set of their signature Moringa oil and clear quarts roller, whuch is great to use together for lymphatic drainage. Currently, they are promoting the idea of Moringa Project Home Spa and selling the Gua Sha and rollers in their gift sets. You can find out more about their brand and products on their website HERE!

Benefits of using Moringa Oil with Clear Quarts Roller

Clear Quarts RollerI'm so happy that they are selling clear quarts roller with oil. Clear quarts is most powerful healing and energy amplifier on the planet. It absorbs, stores, releases and regulates energy and is useful for unblocking it. It stimulates the immune system and brings the body back into balance. There are multiple benefits of using clear quarts roller for facial massage such as it softens and tones the skin, promotes lymphatic drainage, increases blood flow to the skin, assists in detoxification, reduces puffiness and inflammation, brings a natural glow to your skins, tightens the skin and improves its elasticity.

And the best part about this oil for me is the fact that its results are long lasting. Trust me, I am just not talking about how my skin feels after using it regularly. Rather, even if I skip the product for a couple of days in between like I did. The suppleness it gives my skin doesn’t really vanish.

My Experience with Moringa Oil

Moringa Oil
I have been using this oil with clear quarts roller for few weeks now and it made my skin soft and supple right from the first application. It's working like a magic on my skin. My skin looks so smooth, supple and well nourished after using it.  I'm using this oil at night (and sometimes in the morning when I forget to use it at night). This is a very light oil it gets absorbed into my skin and hair without being greasy. I love the way my skin feels and looks, the next day of applying it.  I have noticed that my age spots are fading and lines around my eyes are softening. I'm someone who's very minimalistic when it comes to cosmetics and skincare products. I try to use only natural products on my face and this one is perfect fit for me as it's been made with only two ingredients; Moringa Seed Oil and Vitamin E!

How I use it regularly?

I just apply few drops of the oil all over my face and neck and then I like to really massage it in using clear quarts roller coz together they work really well and help to unclog the gunk in my pores and loosen dead skin cells.

Moringa Oil for Hair

I have very long, dense, fizzy and thick hair so I just put little bit of this oil on my hands and gently massage from scalp to ends to tame my hair down. I have heard that it can be used for styling purposes as well!

Why Moringa Project Thailand ?

Moringa OilWhat I love about this brand is that their products are sustainable, eco-friendly, vegan and are 100% natural!

Their cold-pressed oil is meant to hydrate your skin and in that regard it does a fabulous coz it's packed with antioxidants, vitamins A,B,C & E, omega 9 fatty acids. Anti-inflammatory compounds and minerals present in this oil can help with acne breakouts. It's rich in oleic acid, which penetrates deep inside the skin and replenishes lost moisture + fights against lines and wrinkles. It gives your skin all the nutrients it needs to stay healthy. To be honest, this oil is a good choice if you are in your 30s like me. In a nutshell, it's basically the new superfood for skin and hair!

So, do I you reccomend it?

Moringa Oil
YES! Absolutely!

Specially, if you have dry or dull skin as it can do wonders to your skin. You can use it as a night time serum or day base under make-up or on skin inflammation like eczema or dry skin or on bites and scrapes (great for babies and kids too!)

It has worked wonders on my skin and I will never be without it now. I'm so glad that I found this oil as it has become my favorite in just few weeks!

That being said, what you put on your plate is even more important than what you put on your skin. So, make sure you're putting healthy foods for healthy skin on your plate (along with using products like Moringa Oil).  Everything you eat becomes a part of not only your inner being, but the outer body as well. The healthier the foods you consume, the better your skin will look. So, along with using this oil(and other skincare products) make sure you drink well, eat well, sleep well and move enough; as all of these things work together!

Note: If you are using this oil for the first time, I would recommend doing a patch test first as everyone's skin is different and not every product is for everyone. And if you have severe acne problem, dermatitis, or any other skincare condition I would suggest you to see a dermatologist before taking a plunge to use this oil.

PS: If you want to buy this moringa oil from Moringa Project Thailand you can use my coupon code VANDNA10 to get 10% off on your your purchase from their website!
